I’m back! Having given up on this blog for about 18 months, I’ve decided to get back into the game of blogging my life away on bytevibes.com. In my defence I’ve been fairly busy, with work, O-Week and travelling in between… but that really isn’t any excuse not to set aside 30 minutes in a day to post something!Today, I’ll be performing a link attack to ease into it. I’ll start off with a few interesting tech news items over the past week, and ramp up to more detailed posts later next week.
New Honda system to warn drivers of “crime hot spots”
Source: GizModo
Starting this week, Honda cars in Japan will be provided a new function which tells you whether or not you are driving into a high crime zone. The GPS system communicates to local police stations in Japan and provides a crime rating, sorted by location. If the is particularly dangerous it issues an alert to the driver, however I’d personally love to see the system suggest how to avoid these crime spots, possibly automatically reticulating a new route to drive in. There is no news whether or not this will be hitting any other shores yet, but hopefully we’ll be able to have a test drive of this functionality in Australia some time soon.
