Justin Timberlake Concert with Support Act: “Screaming Teenage Girls”

Wednesday night, I had the opportunity to attend the first Future Sex Long Sounds JT concert in Sydney - and I loved it. There, I said it - I really did love the performance. Maybe because it was my first pop concert ever, and I haven’t got anything else to compare with… Anyhow I still think it was a solid performance. It was also a better experience seeing how randomly I bumped into like 10 other friends on the night. He is a great performer and has earned every cent of his paycheck. I wouldn’t say he deserved it, I’ll just say he’s earned it.
In terms of location, I was positioned in the standing area behind the “Sexy Back Club Lounge” which was just a fancy term for “the bar right in front of the stage”. I think at best, I would have been about 15-20 metres from the front of the stage where the performed were. It was awesome.
However there were two main things I didn’t understand:
- Standing area - there was pretty much no space to move. That, and it was hard to see when there was someone taller in front of you (which may have been the case for people behind me). I never felt so tall in my life that day
Anyhow, what’s the point of the standing area then? I thought it was an area where you could dance…? Instead I found myself just doing the bob-up-down head-nod action, and that was it. If only they sold less tickets to that area… anyhow… next point - Screaming - Girls literally screamed till they could scream no more whenever JT got closer, or whenever he would face in the general vicinity of where they were. Now, I guess this is a reaction of surprise and anxiety, but apart from that, what does screaming have to do with any of it? It’s freaking deafening.
I now hear an excessively loud ringing in my ears - I wonder if it will affect anything come tomorrow morning at work…

I just wanted to add that other things I didn’t understand included:
* Random hugging - Those in the Sexy Back Club Lounge felt the need to hug band members when they mingled during the intermission.
* Bad t-shirts - There was a girl who wore a tight t-shirt plastered with “Mrs Timberlake” across her chest. I realise that you are supporting JT but if he saw that shirt on you, regardless of who you were, he’d probably be a bit put off…
